DR. JOSE E IGOA, MD, F.R.C.P., M.R.C.

Doctor Jose E Igoa is founder and director of the Renaissance Psychiatry Clinic. Born in Tampico, Dr. Igoa went to medical school in Autonomous University of Guadalajara then Completed his Psychiatric Residency in Ottawa, Canada. After a short period of time of practicing in Nova Scota, Dr. Igoa came to the Rio Grande Valley in 1984.

Dr. Igoa has been a Medical Director of many institutions including South Texas Behavioral Hospital and now DHR Health Behavioral Hospital.

He is Board certified in General Psychiatry with subspecialties in Addiction, Geriatric, Forensic and Psychoanalytic medicine.

He has the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification. He’s also a Fellow of the College of Psychiatrists of England and a Lifetime Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

He has also earned board qualifications from the American Board of Addiction Medicine.

ROSIE L GONZALEZ, P.A.-C

Rosie Gonzalez is a national board certified physician assistant specializing in Psychiatry. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a Master of Science in Biology from Texas State University. She later obtained a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas-RGV. Upon graduation, Ms. Gonzalez has been practicing in Psychiatry for the past 7 years, thus solidifying her passion to serve in mental health.

MEGAN CHAVEZ, P.A.-C

Megan N Chavez is our Physician Assistant that joined Dr. Igoa’s practice on June 1, 2020. Ms. Chavez developed an interest in Mental Health since her first psychology class while getting her undergraduate. While in college, Megan studied abroad in Paris studying the history of Psychopathology in 2014. 

She received her Bachelor’s in Biology from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with Cum Laude in 2015. Later received her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2019. During her time as a student in PA school, Megan saw her calling to work in Psychiatry as there is a great need for Mental Health Providers in the Rio Grande Valley.
